A Review on your 2017 Financial Goals

It’s already October 2017.

3 months to go and it will be the start of a new year!

Before you know it, it is already 2018 and you will be doing again your “NEW” new year resolutions.

But before you do that, let’s do a review of your 2017 Financial Goals.

What were your 2017 Financial Goals?

Is it to have an emergency fund? A 3-6months worth of monthly expenses?

Is it to open an account with a stockbroker? Or just to buy that first stock?

Is it to start a house fund, car fund, or travel fund?

Or is it more forward looking such as a retirement fund or college fund?

Maybe it is to have a life insurance, disability, and critical illness plan?

Or you plan on taking control of your finances and get out of debt!

Try to remember and write them down.

Look for that excel/word file or that piece of paper where you wrote it down.

Where are you based on your goals?

On the side of that goal, write the plan that you have started.

How much have you saved and invested already?

In what bank or financial company where the money is invested in?

Then compute for the balance.

Are you on track, below, or above?

If you are on track, well and good!

If you are above your target, excellently done!

You can now start doing your 2018 goals. Treat yourself! Enjoy life!

If you are below target, ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are the reasons for not acting on the plan?
  • Is the goal important enough?
  • What is my “WHY” for this plan?
  • What can I do now so I can start the plan or end the year achieving it?

Better to be late than never!

If you have been procrastinating for a very long time, stop making excuses!

Don’t tell yourself that you will just do it in January 2018.

One can also say that it is done when it is already done.

Stop making excuses and just do it!

It all starts with taking the first step! Momentum will take care of itself!

Regardless if it is saving in the bank or investing in the most exotic financial instrument, the most important step is taking that pen to fill-up the form and depositing the minimum amount.

Everything will follow.
